My costumes.
Wonder Woman costume. It didn’t turn out as great as I wanted it to, but I don’t think it’s that bad for one of the biggest costume projects I had done up to that date.
Costume from 2010.
Wonder Woman made by me.
My boyfriend is dressed up as Superman. Costume made by him.

“I put together this “cover” for a FanFic by Arcadia called “The Bounty Hunter ”.
I love the story. I hope you like the mash-up.
It’s inspired on the old Star Wars and James Bond movie posters, in which a lot was happening at the same time.”
We certainly love Arcadia’s Fanfic, and this nifty mashup tribute - super wonderful shop’ing there Gustavo! Loving it.

Zietgiest redux:
Ever since Bleeding Cool ran the story “I’m told that Superman and Wonder Woman will be getting together.” There have been many in depth fan discussions on the webz…
Message board threads such as CBR, and DC Comics -  have been inundated by a very prolific minority ( to the point of absurdity IMO ). The identifiable few argue that the Kent/Lane marriage is the only valid version of the Superman story - and the possibility of Diana and Kal romance is more often than not rejected forcefully.
For this vocal and verbose group of fans - who are rightfully entitled to love and enjoy whatever stories they personally enjoy found the prospect of the New 52, not including Lois and Clark, as a married couple, a disaster of Titanic preportions.
Certainly in the ‘New 52’ Superman title there has been reference to that famous two person love triangle. Is this foreshadowing….
Like Jerry Siegel, I think the Lois Clark romance is best explored in what used to be called “Imaginary Stories” Now more often called Elseworld. Outside of Canon is the best vehicle for this IMO.
Now Six Issues into the New 52 we’re not surprised to be still waiting for Superman and Wonder Woman to hook up again, ( it’s still very early days )  as they did in the celebratory Action #600

Meanwhile for me the ‘Superman (comic book)’ has felt dated and disconnected from the more interesting Superman Grant Morrison has introduced in Action Comics ( at least until the latest Superman #6)  however the brash confidant young Superman from Action is for me, a vast improvement on the Iron/Mercury Age Superman from the previous DCU - and - the Superman from Superman title, who for five issues lacked both the confidence and intelligence of the Action Comics tales.
Previously I said, “Given DC’s record in the matter of relationships I am circumspect.”
I still am. This last page of the Superman #1-6 story arc, perhaps gives me reason to be.

Clearly the implication is that Lois might be that someone….
Well okay - maybe that is intended to be a foreshadowing, but isn’t it just a bit too obvious?
I mean I knew before the Movie Titanic that the boat sank, some things are immutable, but given Clark didn’t marry Lois for fifty years is this really the Ship DC are going to sail away in again?
That said I formed an early opinion of Action vs Superman books, which I still hold - that the latter was almost like an insurance policy, ie if Morrison’s new take on Superman didn’t capture new readers then DC could default back to something almost identical to the previous Status Quo.
As it happens the Superman title has a new team of Dan Jurgens & Keith Giffen, from Issue #7. Jurgens has implied I am told, that Lois and Clark will get together at some point - equally in this CBR interview he says

“the most glaring thing we see right now is the relationship between Clark and Lois obviously is not what it was before and it doesn’t mean it has to be right away or anytime soon. There’s a lot of different things we want to explore within the context of Clark and his relationships, be it Lois, Perry or anyone else who happens to be there.”

Could Bleeding Cool be right - could that ‘anyone else’ be Diana?
Obviously I hope so!
As I said earlier… the shipping of Superman and Wonder Woman goes back decades, and was based initially on a handful of panels in a handful of stories, yet it grew to a place where so many people - couples instinctively gravitate to the inherent rightness there in.

Perhaps the idea of two similar yet very different people together extends so easily beyond the insular funny books fan-base because it requires no complex mental gymnastics and techno babble to explain. Where as Super/Wonder Person with an human being does.
It maybe true that Jurgens/Giffens and or other writers expect - even plan to retell the 90’s sub plot that saw the Lois and Clark Romance and Marriage.
On the basis of CBR interview it does seem that if this is indeed correct, then the stated intention is to wait sometime before repeating the 90’s romance in Superman’s case.
That does give opportunity for as Jurgens says - for “new stuff”

“The beauty of this is that a lot of the stuff that’s been on the chalkboard has been erased and we get the chance to write some new stuff up there.”

And how that “new stuff” is received by the comic buying public is going to drive the direction of the narrative, in other words if Diana and Kal do get together - even if the writers/editors intention at this time is for this relationship to be a brief encounter, it’s how that romance plays out - ie how fans react to it, that will decide the direction of the narrative.
Remember DC want to sell comics and branded products!
What did surprise me is the antagonism from certain quarters against Diana and Kal, yes even this blog, and our wider Superman and Wonder Woman family ( see links on the Hell Yeah Superman and Wonder Woman Page )
It could be the prospect of a canon Superman and Wonder Woman relationship alarms certain people, because - and I am unashamed to say again   that I hope this will be; that Diana and Kal just might capture the wider imagination.
Such is the Zeitgeist of the moment, the untapped expectation - the possibility of mass merchandising $$$ especially come another valentines day.

If that happens, then any existing expectations and plans could well be revised, as is the long tradition in comic books. Remember Superman didn’t feature on the cover of every edition of the original Action until #19 onwards - the reason why this change was made was simple. With Superman on the cover they sold more copies.
It perhaps goes without saying - given the title and intention of this blog that we believe that Diana and Kal have great potential to become a sales success, in the way the same old same can’t.
What is interesting is DC’s Decision to kill it’s own message board.

“As part of its online makeover, DC Entertainment will be shutting down the current message boards in early March.  Active message board users are encouraged to save their favorite conversations leading up to the closure.  Special thanks to the many fans who participated in the messages boards over the years.”

DC is moving to “comments hosted by Facebook and real-time Twitter feeds integrated throughout the (DC Comic) site”
My own conclusion is this is to deliberately target a younger demographic.
And I’d ask everyone to find a moment sometime to take part and promote Superman and Wonder Woman through Twitter and Facebook, and also Tumblr ( of course ) and any other favourite social networking site.
Oh and among these links on the Hell Yeah Superman and Wonder Woman Page there are links to Diana and Kal on Twitter, and on Facebook.
Whatever happens in the funny books, this blog, our contributors and our friends will continue to celebrate the exciting stories possible with Superman and Wonder Woman.
